End of the World - Ingrid Michaelson

I haven't posted much about Ingrid yet, so I felt I should feature an Ingrid song as song of the day. Because it's the last day of the year, I felt this song felt fitting, though I have no idea why.

I've always found the meaning behind this song very amusing. Ingrid said once that this song came into her mind after watching a slew of zombie, end of the world movies. She added that hint of romance, and there you go, the last track off Human Again.

I just think it's a really sweet, emotional song and a great way to round off an amazing year. It's a really fitting song to end an album, it feels like you're reading the last few pages of an amazing novel and finishing the last page in content.

New Orleans - Emily Hearn

I'm pretty sure this is one of Emily's more well known songs, but this is based on the number of youtube views this song has compared to others and rightly so.

This is one of my favourite Emily Hearn songs. It's full of raw emotion about her love leaving her for the city of New Orleans. I think I mostly love it because of the emotion you can hear in Emily's voice when she sings, both on the record and in this live version.

Honestly, I didn't really care when I couldn't find a studio version of this son on youtube, because this live version is just as good. Also in this version, you can see Emily's emotion other face as she sings, which I love.

Overall this is an excellent song, even though it's about love. It's full of raw emotion and Emily laying her heart out for this man she used to love.

Carol of the Bells - Pentatonix

I just ran 10km so I'm exhausted and I'm not gonna write much. CHRISTMAS TOMORROW WOOOO!!!!! So if you've been following this blog, then you'd probably know I'm a total Pentaholic, so it seems fitting that I end the Christmas-themed songs of the day with a Pentatonix song.

They never cease to blow my mind with their arrangements and Carol of the Bells is no different. Whilst Christmas shopping, I've heard a few other versions of this song, but none seem to measure up to this one.

I'm extremely exhausted so I'm going to end this post here. I wish you all a merry christmas and a safe and happy new year :D

Winter Song - Sara Bareilles & Ingrid Michaelson

After yesterday, I wanted to get back into the Christmas theme since 2 SLEEPS TO GO!!!! *SQUEEEEEEEEEE*

I love this song. Two of my favourite artists in the same song, who could pass up on that? But seriously, this song is amazing in it's own right.

This is the first true Christmas love song I've posted about (yes, I know Love is Christmas is about love too, but I don't really count it because it's a different kind of love, not relationship love).

It's a very sad and beautiful. It's full of love and winter analogies on whether things can grow in the cold of winter, or whether they can still thrive. 

Winter Song was written for the Hotel Cafe christmas album, Winter Songs. Sara and Ingrid have performed it live on Jay Leno and at during the 2010 US National Christmas Tree Lighting. The sang has also been featured on Scrubs, Grey's Anatomy and Brothers and Sisters.

Can't believe Christmas has come so fast... wowee has this year passed quickly!

Every Heart - Sara Haze

I was planning on having a Christmas song as song of the day today, but i couldn't help myself after I listened to this song for the billionth time. Ok, not billionth, maybe millionth.

This is one of my favourite songs of My Personal Sky and not just because of the beautiful, tinkling piano, even though I am a sucker for that sort of stuff.

I love the lyrics of this song so so so so so much. I feel like this song is a portrait of who Sara is. She sings about the memories that shape who we are and the stories we have to tell. We all have a story to tell.

This song is just beautiful, the lyrics, the piano, it's just such a beautiful song. It's not a mainstream, poppy love song, it's a song from the heart about what makes us who we are.

Did I mention I love Sara Haze? Haha.

Peppermint Winter - Owl City

Like Love is Christmas I really, truly think this song captures another part of Christmas. I think this song brings out the child in all of us when it comes to Christmas. Adam sings about the childish excitement leading up to Christmas and the morning when you tear down the hallway to the tree to open your presents and see what Santa left you this year.

Although we don't have a white Christmas in Australia, the 3 year old kid can still totally relate to this song. I love it, it's fun and captures a child's innocent excitement at this time of year.

And the sleigh bells are just a bonus :)

I had a sudden urge to so a post on a Christmas song, so I'm doing one on one of my all-time favourite Christmas songs. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sara Bareilles and this song.... just...

I have so many feels.

I feel like this song perfectly captures the essence of Christmas and what it truly means. It's a hauntingly beautiful song that I listen to year round, because I can. Sara sings about how Christmas isn't defined by lots of presents, or a big feast. It's defined by being surrounded by people who love you and giving the same amount of love back.

I love Christmas so much. Even if i can never spell it right.

Back To Life (feat. Ian Grandage) - Eddie Perfect

I'm a HUGE fan of the Australian drama series Offspring and I've been watching it religiously since the first season. Eddie Perfect plays Billie Proudman's musician, shoeless, husband, Mick Holland on the show. Because of this, Eddie always has a few of his tracks on each album. 

I actually hadn't listened to this song in AGES, but decided to listen to it while scrolling through my songs today. I fell in love with this song all over again and with the emotion from it. I also felt very nostalgic as I got all these scenes from Offspring's first season running through my head :')

This has always been one of my favourite Eddie Perfect songs and I highly recommend a listen.

Raniest Day of Summer - Elizabeth and the Catapult

I'm not sure where you guys are reading this from, but down here in Australia, we've just had one of the rainiest days this season and because it's summer here, I felt this song was relevant :D

Elizabeth and the Catapult is Brooklyn native singer-songwriter, Elizabeth Ziman. Elizabeth originally trained to be a classical pianist, but started focusing on vocal training at 16. She has released two albums, Taller Children and The Other Side of Zero, and is currently recording her third, Like it Never Happened.

Love, Save the Empty - Erin McCarley

Sadly I've only just discovered this song thanks to my internet goddess, Pandora Radio. Erin McCarley was born on the 8th on January, 1979 in Garland, Texas. She had released two albums, "Love, Save the Empty" and "My Stadium Electric".

Honestly when I first heard this song, I felt like I hadn't heard anything like it before. It felt fresh, new, and I fell in love with the song and Erin's voice.
